It's Official!

OOTD - 17 to 19 Weeks

Hey ya'll!  It's been a crazy couple of weeks!  Of course, I say that, and there's not really all that much excitement that's happened, but the last three weeks seem to have flown by in a blur of summer and doctor's appointments.  Of course, it makes it easier to have little faces like these to look at:

I also keep seeing some amazing artwork. Some is awesome, like this wizard....

And some humbling, like this portrait of "mommy yelling at us..."  Apparently I need to keep my hormones in check!

I'm also enjoying watching this little sweetheart grow up:

As quickly as this month has gone by, this week is going to drag, just because I have to wait until Friday to know which of these outfits will be the right one for new baby (as long as the little one cooperates):

In the meantime, I'll just continue getting dressed.  Some days, I might even wear something other than sweatpants!  Here's a recap/bumpwatch for the past three weeks.

A Tutorial.

Naptime is a sacred time in our house.  The children are peaceful and still, mommy breathes a sigh of relief, and then she has a few precious hours (well, more like an hour and a half, but who's counting... besides me.) to work on some projects around the house.  Some days said projects involve watching one or two episodes of True Blood (hey, vampire shows are my guilty pleasure, don't judge!) or eating ice cream without having to share, and some days I'm a little more productive.  I thought I'd use today's naptime to bring you my tiny project for today, the

Yes folks, that's right!  It's another long overdue sewing tutorial, and this one's pretty simple!  Basically, you'll need:

A pocket from a button down shirt
Matching/Coordinating thread
Sewing stuff (machine, pins, scissors, etc...)
About 10 free minutes

I have a shirt that's going to be refashioned... eventually.  The first step was removing the pocket, and so I had this leftover piece of fabric that needed to be used.

So, I took said pocket, folded it in half, and pinned.

I then sewed along the 'pre-marked' line where the pocket had been stitched to the shirt.

And voila!  I am now the proud owner of a nifty little sleeve case for my glasses.  It's not padded, so all it really protects from is scratches and dust, but it will come in handy to shield from tiny fingerprints when my kiddos decide to hand me my glasses in the morning before my eyes are even open.

And that, friends, is the

OOTD - 16 Weeks

Ya'll, I'm a bad blogger, and I apologize!  I promised a Fair Trade Friday post for you guys like two weeks ago, and then it just didn't happen.  I don't even have a good excuse, other than not being motivated.  So, I apologize.  Still friends?  Good.

Since we are such good friends, and you're in such a forgiving mood (you are, right?), maybe you'll excuse the horrible lighting in my outfit photos too?  Aww, shucks, you're awesome.  Just for that, I'll give you a little helpful hint: new customers at ThredUP can get a $10 credit to shop!  I think I've talked about ThredUP before, but just as a reminder, it's a resale site where you can find gently used brands from Old Navy to Diane von Furstenberg at a fraction of the original price.  Every item is inspected by the ThredUP team, and is in either new or like-new condition.  In addition to women's clothes, they also carry shoes, purses, kids' clothes, and my new favorite, maternity clothes!  I've made a few orders with them, and have always been more than happy with what I've received.  Take this top for example:

Thanks to a referral credit, I got this top, and one other, for a grand total of $3!  Also, after you make your order, you get your own personal referral link to send to your friends, and for each one that signs up, you get another $10 to shop!  I really can't get enough of this site, and so I figured I'd share it with you!  In the spirit of sharing, here's some more outfit photos (note the lovely pigtails in the next one, I'm SO overdue for a haircut!):

Outfit Details:

Shoes: Sseko Designs, $55

OOTD - 14 Weeks

It's been a busy week!  I'm volunteering with our church's Vacation Bible School all this week, and helping some of the church and community kiddos learn about some weird animals and how 'Jesus' love is one-of-a-kind.'  It's been a lot of fun, and thankfully, I think my 2nd trimester energy kicked in just in time!   I can't really decide which part is my favorite though: watching Big A dance and sing the songs at her first ever VBS, or the giant grins on the 1st and 2nd grade girls in my group as they tell me their favorite part of VBS is "EVERYTHING!"  It's all just kind of awesome.

Right along with my extra energy comes a renewed 'shopping bug.'  For some reason, I am convinced that I have to find all the maternity clothes I need NOW, even though I'm not quite big enough to need any of them quite yet.  That doesn't stop me from wearing maternity jeans already, though, since I'll take any reason to wear stretchy-waisted pants that I can!  One Goodwill find I'm excited about is this scarf, since it adds that little pop of pattern to otherwise simple outfits.  Of course, there are others in the house, (*cough cough* the man I married*) who were less than impressed.  "I didn't know they made 'maternity scarves'..." were his words when I brought it home after a maternity shopping trip.  Oh, in case you didn't know, men and women think a little differently!  He did have to agree that it looks pretty cute with an outfit after the fact.  I just have to remind him of a VBS point: even though [we're] different, Jesus loves us!

Outfit Details:
White Tee: JC Penney, $5
White Tank: Old Navy, $5 (love their 'Tami' style!)
Jeans: maternity, thrifted (DIY alterations), $5
Scarf: thrifted, $2
Shoes: thrifted, $3

Grand Total: $20

Be sure to check in tomorrow, since Fair Trade Friday is making a return!

OOTD - 13 Weeks

Hey!  I have a blog!  Granted, I haven't been on in a while, but for good reason: apparently growing a baby is hard work!  And, for me, it seems that growing a baby the third time around is even harder work than before.  But, I think I'm finally getting out of those first trimester days, and my energy levels are hopefully on an upswing.  That means I can start doing normal stuff, like eating without getting nauseous! (I know, I know, that word should be written as 'nauseated' but whatevs...)  So, to catch up, here's a rundown of this pregnancy so far (at least the important points):

What made me nauseous: being hungry... also, eating.

Average # of hours my 4-year old has been watching TV: more than recommended!

# of times I've used my gym membership since finding out we're expecting: one

Latest Big Purchase: a minivan!  This wouldn't seem like cause for celebration, but we've been a one car family for about 6 years.  Now I can actually drive myself places instead of asking for rides during the day!

First family outing in the van: the mall (Oh, yeah, that voice that says 'yes, you can shop by yourself with two little girls without pulling your hair out or them having a meltdown..."?  Ignore it.  Every. Time.)

Currently Reading: 11/22/63 by Stephen King (a little junk food for the mind!)

Currently Craving: canned artichokes/olives/pepperoncinis/anything vinegary-and-salty

Currently Eating: saltine crackers (what else?)

Next steps in the pregnancy: a blood sugar test on Friday (hello, gross syrup drink!) and finding out the gender at 20 weeks!

Now, on to the outfit post.  It's hot outside right now.  Like, really, really hot.  All the unseasonable June rain in our area has evaporated, and been replaced with 80+ degree days.  Thank goodness for dresses!

Outfit Details:
Dress: DIY (tutorial) from thrifted tees, $8
Belt: old
Shoes: Target, $5 (clearance, DIY pink dye)
Necklace: secondhand via eBay, $3

Grand Total: $16

Guess What!!!

Well, guys, it's been a while!   I apologize for the extended blogging break, I just have been feeling a little under the weather lately.  Before you start feeling too sorry for me, let me tell you the reason:

That's right!  Our little family is about to grow again, and I'm so excited!  This does mean I'll probably be posting a little less, at least until I get out of this first trimester... nausea all day every day is not something I experienced with my other two girls!  But, be sure, I'll make an appearance from time to time, with baby updates, maternity fashion, and all the preparations.  Until next time....
